Finneen O’Driscoll was born on 26 July 1893, and joined the Regular Army in about January 1912. At the outbreak of the war he was serving as a Gunner in the Royal Horse Artillery and went to France and Belgium on 15 August 1914. He was wounded during the war and was granted a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery, for service in the field, with seniority 23 June 1918. He was promoted acting Captain on 15 January 1919, whilst second in command of a Battery, and held this rank until October 1919 when he relinquished it. He was promoted Lieutenant in January 1920, and in April 1923 was seconded for service with the Royal Army Pay Corps. He received his final promotion to Captain and Paymaster, R.A.P.C., on 23 November 1927, and died whilst stationed at Malta on 17 May 1937, aged 43. Sold with further research including photographs of his grave at Malta.
