Lindsay Wilson was the son of Commander John Henry Wilson, Indian Navy, who is remembered as the commander of the steam ship Hugh Lindsay which carried the first overland mail from India to Suez in March-April 1830, thereby reducing by some four months the average journey time from India to Britain. Lindsay Wilson died on 10 February 1870.
