(291 Sjt., Warwick I.Y.) mounted from a silver brooch bar, inscribed, ‘1900-01’, together with scarce Warwickshire Yeomanry badge, good very fine (3) £500- 550
William Henry Whitehouse was born near Hereford. A Hotel Proprietor by occupation and a member of the Warwickshire Yeomanry, he attested for short service at Warwick on 1 January 1900, aged 38 years, 2 months. Served in South Africa January 1900-April 1901. During the Boer War he served in the 5th (Warwickshire) Company 2nd Battalion Imperial Yeomanry. Awarded the Imperial Yeomanry L.S. & G.C. by Army Order August 1905. One of 46 to the unit. With copied service papers.
