Three: Private L. Booker, 2nd Battalion Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, late Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, killed in action, France/Flanders, 16 August 1917

Leonard William Booker was born in Holmwood, Dorking, Surrey, lived in Wimbledon Park and enlisted at Wandsworth. Served initially with the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. When serving with the 2nd Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 16 August 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

With framed commemorative scroll; Memorial Plaque in card envelope and with a metal frame dated ‘1914-1918’; with slip to accompany the British War and Victory Medals and registered envelope addressed to ‘Mrs Ada Booker, The Lodge, Edgecombe Hall, Wimbledon Park, S.W.’ Also with a Christmas card, ‘To my Dear Sister from Len with Love’.
