Private Percy Charles Hill, 1/6th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment was killed in action, France/Flanders, 19 March 1916, aged 35 years. He was buried in the Sucrerie Military Cemetery, Colincamps. He was the son of Henry George and Emma Collyer Hill, of ‘Pen-y-Bryn’, Clifton Road, Abergavenny and a native of Bristol. With forwarding slip for the British War and Victory Medals. .
Able Seaman Leonard Charles Hill, R.N., was killed in action, serving on the heavy cruiser, H.M.S. Exeter, against the ‘pocket battleship’ Graf Spee, at the battle of the River Plate, 13 December 1939, aged 39 years. He was the son of Percy Charles Hill and Daisy Hill (nee Knight). His name is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. With named condolence slip and card forwarding box addressed to ‘Mrs K. Evans, Penybryn, Clifton Road, Abergavenny, S. Wales’; also with damaged registered envelope.
