John Astley Bennet (1778-1812), youngest son of Charles Bennet, 4th Earl of Tankerville (1743-1822), lost a leg in the naval action of 1 June 1794, when he was a midshipman on the Montague. While en route to London he died at Meriden, Warwickshire, on 14 September 1812, at the age of 33
