Richard Nightingale (1837-1912), son of James Nightingale (1791-1866), of Aislaby, farmer, lived at Faceby, N. Yorkshire. Sold with a related newspaper cutting which infers that the medal was at one time in the possession of Arthur Wilson, landlord of the Harewood Arms, Northallerton, who had found it among the effects of his father, Fred Wilson
