1914-15 Star (7741 Pte. H. W. Stannard. Suff. R.); British War and Victory Medals (7741 Cpl. H. W. Stannard. Suff. R.); India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Malabar 1921-22 (5820155 Pte. H. W. Stannard, Suff. R.); Defence Medal (Segt. H. W. Stannard. A.M. Constabulary.) contemporarily engraved naming; Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 2nd issue, fixed suspension (5820155 Pte. H. W. Stannard. Suff. R.); together with eight Shooting Prize Medals, silver, all named to the recipient, edge bruise to L.S. & G.C., light contact marks, polished, nearly very fine and better (14) £240-280

Henry William Stannard was bon in Ipswich, Suffolk in 1888, and attested for the Suffolk Regiment in 1908. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion on the Western Front from 16 January 1915, and saw further service with the Battalion post-War in India during the Moplah Rebellion at Malabar in 1921-22. He was awarded his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1927 per Army Order 150. During the Second World War he volunteered for Home Service and served with the Air Ministry Constabulary (most likely in Suffolk). In later life he lived in one of the Regimental Cottages in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, and died in 1958.

A talented marksman, Stannard was a member of the Regimental shooting team during the early 1920s, winning several trophies at the Army Rifle Association competitions including both the Queen Victoria Cup and the 1st Army Cup in 1922.
