The Duke of Lancaster’s Yeomanry Cavalry Officer’s Helmet c. 1863-71, an extremely fine example, the black japanned metal skull complete with all gilt metal overlays including a magnificent frontal plate displaying the crowned arms of the County Palatine with attendant oak and laurel sprays, large gilt rose side ornaments and velvet lined gilt metal chin chain, white horse hair plume with gilt rose finial. Original quilted linen sweat band and attached lining (see Carman plate 16 Yeomanry Head Dress of the British Army), a repair to the orb and cross on St. Edward’s crown otherwise very fine original condition £800-1000
