The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 2nd type breast badge, silver; Military Cross, G.V.R., reverse privately engraved ‘Lt. C. F. Morgan, B/157. R.F.A. 3rd. June 1918.’; British War and Victory Medals (Capt. C. F. Morgan.); Defence Medal; Jubilee 1935; Efficiency Decoration, G.V.R., silver and silver-gilt, with top ‘Territorial’ riband bar, housed in a Spink, London, leather case, light contact marks, cleaned, nearly extremely fine (7) £800-1200

Cyril Frank Morgan was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the East Lancashire Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, on 18 December 1915, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 5 October 1916. Posted to 157th Battery, he was promoted Captain and appointed Second in Command of the Battery on 23 September 1918, having previously served as Adjutant, and for his gallantry during the Great War was awarded the Military Cross. After the War Morgan continued to serve in the Territorial Army, and was promoted Major on 7 March 1923, and Lieutenant-Colonel on 17 February 1932. He was awarded the 1935 Jubilee Medal whilst serving as Commanding Officer of 52nd (Manchester) Field Brigade, Royal Artillery (Territorial Force). He vacated his command on 17 February 1936, having received his Efficiency Decoration (Territorial), and was appointed Brevet Colonel. He served during the Second World War in the Home Guard as Commanding Officer of 71st Lancashire Home Guard Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery, based at Eccles, from 1 January 1943; he relinquished his command upon reaching the age limit on 8 May 1948, and retained the ranks of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet Colonel.
