Provenance: From the recipient to his daughter, Gladys Margaret Beadle (1874-1968), who married Robert Kindersley, 1st Baron Kindersley (1871-1954) in 1896, and by descent within the Kindersley family.
James Pattle Beadle (1824-1902), born in Blackheath, was the father of James Prinsep Beadle (1863-1947), painter of military and historical scenes. Beadle Sr was listed as a ensign cadet in the EIC army in January 1841. He rose to the rank of major-general and retired from the Royal Engineers as brevet of lieutenant-colonel in January 1867. He lived in Queensgate gardens, Kensington, and during the 1880s at Worton Grange, Wiltshire
