D.C.M. London Gazette 1 January 1918; citation 17 April 1918:

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at all times in assisting to carry out surveys in forward areas working often under almost continuous shell fire. The use of delicate instruments under such conditions demanded the highest nerve and steadiness.’
