Harry Roger Moody Burgess was born at Congleton, Cheshire, and attested for the Liverpool Regiment at Liverpool. He served with the 4th Battalion during the Great War, and is reported to have been awarded his Military Medal for gallantry at Croiselles-Nieuport. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 16 April 1918. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
