Richard Dawson was born at Hanley Staffordshire, and attested for the Lancashire Fusiliers at Tunstall, Staffordshire. He served with the 18th Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 22 October 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
