Andrew Lindsay was born in Thurso, Caithness, and attested there for the Royal Engineers. He served during the Great War with the 11th Divisional Signal Company, ands died of wounds at Gallipoli on 9 August 1915. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
