Four: Petty Officer 2nd Class A. J. Wright, Royal Navy, killed in action in the Dardanelles when his trawler Okino was mined near Cape Yeni, 8 March 1915

Alfred John Wright was born in Camberwell, Surrey, on 1 July 1879 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Second Class on 7 November 1894. Advanced Ordinary Seaman, serving in H.M.S. Mars on 1 July 1897, he transferred to H.M.S. Terpsichore on 7 February 1901, and served in her during operations in the Boer War (entitled to the clasps Cape Colony and South Africa 1901). Advanced Petty Officer 2nd Class on 7 January 1905, he was shore pensioned on 8 September of that year, and joined the Royal Fleet Reserve at Chatham the following day. He re-enlisted in the Royal Navy on 3 September 1910, and served during the Great War. He was killed in action on 8 March 1915 when H.M. Trawler Okino was mined near Cape Yeni in the Dardanelles, in one of the night-time attempts to clear the Kephez minefield, and sank with the loss of all but five of her crew, and he is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
