Nathaniel Charles Buller Bloodworth was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, in 1882, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Gloucestershire Regiment. He served during the Great War with the 12th Battalion on the Western Front from 8 June 1917, and was promoted Lieutenant on 26 October 1918. he relinquished his commission on account of ill health, contracted on active service, on 27 March 1919.

Sold together with the recipient’s ‘Invalided from Service’ scroll, dated 27 March 1919, in scroll tube addressed to ‘N. C. B. Bloodworth Esq., High Street, Campden, Glos.’; and two postcard photographs featuring the recipient.
