George Theodore Berg was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served during the Second World War as a Flight Lieutenant Bomb Aimer with No. 434 Squadron, and was killed in action on the night of 3-4 October 1943 when his Halifax exploded and crashed at Grossen-Heidorn, 3km north-west of Wunstorf, whilst on an operation to Kessel. He is buried alongside two of his crew members in Hannover War Cemetery, Germany.
