Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Salamanca (Hy. J. Lindsey, Ensn. 11th Foot) some edge bruising and a little polished, otherwise very fine £1800-2200

Only 3 single clasps for Salamanca to officers of the ‘Bloody Eleventh’.

Henry John Lindsey was appointed Ensign in the 11th Foot on 5 December 1811; Lieutenant, 11 January 1816; Half-Pay, 31 January 1828. He served in the Peninsula from April 1812 to the end of the war, and was present at the siege of the forts at Salamanca, the battle of Salamanca, and the siege of Burgos. The 'Bloody Eleventh' earned their soubriquet at the battle of Salamanca, where they suffered casualties amounting to 45 killed and 296 wounded. Lieutenant Lindsey died circa 1863.
