The Earl of Chester’s Cheshire Yeomanry Officer’s Busby c. 1870 - 1914, a rare example of this very special pattern, the brown sable body based on the shape of an 1869 pattern infantry shako complete with white cloth bag, special pattern silver plated graduated chin scales and similar special pattern sewn in silver cord cap lines, buff leather sweat band, purple and crimson silk linings with supplier’s details ‘Hawkes & Co., 14, Piccadilly, London’, complete with silver corded ball pattern plume holder and white over red 43 cm feather plume. Now contained in an 1855 pattern shako tin this named to George W. Thain Esq., Bengal Native Infantry, the plume with correct pattern carrying tin, very slight loss of fur on the rear left area otherwise in very good condition (3) £300-400
