Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (14194 Tpr: G. P. Mortimer, 47th. Coy. 13th. Impl: Yeo:) good very fine £100-140

George Pearse Mortimer was born in Dunsford, Devon, in 1877 and attested for the Imperial Yeomanry in London on 7 February 1900. He served with the 47th (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Company, 13th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa during the Boer War from 1 March 1900 to 7 June 1901, being taken Prisoner of War at Lindley on 31 May 1900. Released, he was discharged at Belfast on 15 June 1901, after 1 year and 129 days’ service.
