Alfred Edward Locock was born at Dartmouth, Devon, on 8 February 1869, and entered the Royal Navy from Greenwich School as a Boy Writer on 1 August 1884. He served aboard Racer from November 1888 to March 1889, was advanced to Chief Writer in February 1897, Pensioned in February 1907, and discharged to Shore (Unfit) on 16 August 1914. Sold with copied record of service.
