He served with the Regiment pre-War in India and Egypt, before transferring to the Reserve, and was recalled to the Colours on the outbreak of the Great War. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 September 1914; the battalion formed part of the 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Division, in Haig’s 1 Army Corps and played a major role in the defence of the Ypres Salient on 22 October 1914 near Langemarck. The Worcesters were then involved in the recapture of Gheluvelt on 31 October 1914. Millichap died at No. 5 Casualty Clearing Station of blood poisoning on 16 November 1914, having been wounded in the ankle and foot during the German bombardment of Hazebrouck, and is buried in the Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery, France. He is also commemorated on St John the Baptist Church Memorial, Kidderminster.
