Mercantile Marine War Medal 1914-18 (John. T. Crouchen.); British War and Victory Medals (S.Lt. J. T. Crouchen. R.N.R.); Marine Society Reward of Merit, silver medal, reverse engraved ‘John T. Crouchen April 23rd. 1919’, mounted for display purposes in this order; together with the recipient’s Local Fire Protection Warden armband, red initials stamped on white cloth; and St. John Ambulance Brigade Air Raid Precautions Reserve armband, gold lettering embroidered on black cloth, good very fine (4) £140-180
John T. Crouchen served in the Mercantile Marine in the China area before being commissioned Sub-Lieiutenant, Royal Naval Reserve, on 11 May 1918. He served during the Great War in H.M.S. Helga from 29th June 1918. Post-War, he was employed as a Pilot for the Guinness Brewery in Dublin, and served during the Second World War as a Local Fire Protection Warden. He died in 1964.
