Victory Medal 1914-19 (22-1762 Pte. F. Wilkey. North:d. Fus.) very fine £70-90

Frank Wilkey was born in Bristol, resided in Newport, Monmouthshire and served during the Great War on the Western Front with the 22nd (Service) Battalion (3rd Tyneside Scottish), Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, when his battalion attacked La Boisselle, suffering 648 casualties. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
