Alexander Walkenshaw Scott was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 20 March 1917, and served with the Royal Flying Corps during the Great War, initially as a Balloon Observation Officer in Mesopotamia from 25 August 1917. Promoted Lieutenant, he transferred to the unemployed list on 13 June 1919.
