James Andrew O’Shea enlisted in the Irish Guards at Bodmin in August 1930 and was placed on the Army Reserve three years later on joining the Cornish Constabulary. Recalled to his old regiment in December 1939, he later transferred to No. 8 Commando, fought in Norway and North Africa and was taken P.O.W. at Tobruk on 21 June 1942. O’Shea was liberated in May 1945 and discharged in February 1946.
