Charles Faven was born in Bridgewater, Somerset, on 16 August 1825. He joined the Royal Navy in November 1841 and, as a Boy 2nd Class, served during the First China War in H.M.S. Belleisle, for which he received the medal. He progressed through the rates to become Boatswain’s Mate in July 1854, Chief Quarter Master in June 1867, and finally Ship’s Cook in August of the same year. He received his L.S. & G.C. medal on 11 August 1871 and seems to have left the Royal Navy at the same time. Sold with full research.
