Army L.S.G.C., V.R., large letter reverse (Troop Corporal Major Wm. Ray, Royal Horse Guards, 1855), replacement silver clip and straight bar suspension, good very fine £120-150

William Ray was born in the Parish of St. Bees, near Whitehaven in Cumberland and enlisted in 1831 at the age of 23 years. Serving in the Royal Horse Guards, he was promoted Sergeant in 1838 and Troop Sergeant Major in 1849. He was discharged in 1856 as a consequence of impaired vision. Sold with copied service papers.
