Royal Engineers Interest a very rare officially printed ‘Leave of Absence’ pass issued in Paris in 1816; headed ‘by His Grace The Duke of Wellington, Field Marshal, Commander of the Forces &c.&c.&c’ Granted to Lieut Hall of the Royal Engineers 22nd January 1816 and allowing him leave until 21st March 1816, ‘to England on Private Affairs’ issued 18th January and signed by the Adjutant General Major-General Sir E Barnes KCB (late 90th Light Infantry), the reverse additionally signed by George Hobart British Ambassador in Paris, there are further stamps and handwritten inscriptions including that of the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs and a note of his re-entry at Calais 22nd March 1816, very good condition for the age with all details quite clear £100-150

Lewis Alexander Hall commissioned 2/Lieut 21 July 1810 1st/Lieut 1 May 1811 2nd/Capt 12 January 1825 1st/Capt 19 August 1835 Brevet Major 28 June 1838 Lieut.Col 1 April 1846 Colonel 23 September 1854, the most Senior Colonel by June 1859 but gone by December 1859. Colonel Hall served 51 years on Full Pay and two months Half Pay, the two months special leave in 1816!
