Original Wartime Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, appertaining to Flight Sergeant A. Morrison, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, with entries covering the period June 1944 to March 1947, including operations with No. 115 Squadron in early 1945, binding and spine weak; together with related R.A.F. Service and Release Book generally in good condition (2) £120-150

Alec Morrison enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve in February 1944 and qualified as an Air Gunner in July of the same year. Standing at over six feet tall, he must have been pretty cramped during his subsequent tour of operations with No. 115 Squadron, a Lancaster unit operating out of Witchford, Cambridgeshire. Joining the Squadron in March 1945, he completed eight sorties in the same month, targets including Dortmund, Hamm and Munster. And four more followed in April, including No. 115’s last operational trip of the War, a strike against the marshalling yards at Bad Oldesloe on the 24th. Thereafter, he flew food supply missions to Rotterdam and The Hague, in addition to half a dozen P.O.W. pick-ups from Juvincourt and / or Brussels.

Morrison transferred to No. 214 Squadron in November 1945, with whom he commenced an overseas tour in North Africa, still flying in Lancasters. And in March 1946, he was posted to No. 37 Squadron for similar duties. Morrison was finally released from the Service in September 1947.
