Joseph Pick was embodied in the 13th Regiment of Light Infantry in June 1839 and arrived in India in October of the same year. Subsequently present in the Jellalabad and Cabul operations, he was advanced to Corporal in July 1843 and to Sergeant in October 1844. He returned to the U.K. in the latter month; further research is required to establish the background to his transferral and subsequent career with the 1st European Bengal Fusiliers.
