Rifle B.) officially impressed naming; Canada General Service 1866-70, 2 clasps, Fenian Raid 1866, Fenian Raid 1870 (3814 Pte., Rifle Bde.) officially impressed naming, surname spelt ‘Skelton’; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (3814 Pte., 1st Bn. Rifle Bde.); Turkish Crimea, Sardinian issue, named, the first with contact marks and edge bruising, therefore good fine, remainder very fine or better (4) £450-500
Charles Skilton was born in Dorking, Surrey, and attested for the Rifle Brigade at Guildford on 21 June, 1854, having previously served in the 2nd Royal Surrey Militia. He served with the Rifle Brigade at Sebastopol, and during the Fenian uprisings in Canada, in 1866 and 1870. He was recommended for the long service medal in 1872 and was discharged on 7 September, 1875. Sold with copy service papers and confirmation of all medals.
