A.F.M. London Gazette 1 January 1938. Two awards were announced in this gazette, these being the last two with the crowned head effigy of King George V, of which a total of only 21 were awarded. The recommendation by the Air Officer Commanding, R.A.F. Cranwell, states: ‘Throughout the past two years has set a high standard by his conscientious work and outstanding zeal, and the Flight Cadets trained by him have attained a high degree of flying skill. The efficiency of his Flight has been considerably upgraded by virtue of his personal smartness, discipline and example. He has always taken keen interest in the welfare and recreational activities of airmen and has exercised an exceptionally good influence on them.’
Royal Air Force L.S. & G.C. announced in Air Ministry Order 291/1938 with an effective date of award of 10 Feb 1938.
