This is one of the series of Spanish 1 and 2 réales (pistareen) coins countermarked 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. In some instances the same numeral stamp appears on 1 and 2 réales, making it difficult to view these countermarks as denominations, although attribution to Curaçao and the Dutch West Indies in general have been suggested in the past
