Alexander Helm Peacock attested for the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 9 July 1915, being awarded the Military Medal presumably for his gallantry during the Battle of the Somme. Subsequently transferring to the Labour Corps, he was discharged to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 6 April 1919.
