George Craigie Prophit passed out from the Cadet College, Wellington, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant Unattached List, Indian Army, 18 June 1917. He advanced to Lieutenant, and served with the 1/39th Garhwal Rifles.
Prophit died of spinal fever, 10 December 1920, whilst attached to the 18th Divisional Headquarters in Iraq. Lieutenant Prophit is buried in Baghdad War Cemetery.
