Royal Lancashire Volunteers Fencible Infantry Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate, 1779-1783 or 1794-1800. A most rare and very fine example of oval outline, the gilt back plate with an applied beaded gilt rim, in the centre an engraved eight-pointed star in sheet silver, thereon in gilt a crowned beaded oval bearing the Arms of Lancaster, one hook and two stud fasteners, the beaded outer rim with one fracture and the hook fastener with period re-attachment, otherwise extremely fine condition £800-£1,200
Note: The first raising was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Thomas Egerton, Baronet. The second raising was commanded Colonel Lord Grey de Wilton.
This belt plate could pertain to either raising.
