Mercantile Marine War Medal 1914-18 (David M. Browne) about extremely fine £40-£50
David Matthews Browne was born in Dunfermline in 1863 and served during the Great War as a Surgeon in the Australian Imperial Force troopship S.S. Nestor. He died in Rhos-on-Sea, Denbighshire, on 10 August 1936. His daughter, Dorothy Margaret Stuart, née Browne, was a famous poet and writer, who won a silver medal for Great Britain in the Art Competitions of the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris.
