Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (John Davis. Caulker. H.M.S. Indus.) impressed naming, nearly very fine £70-£90
John Davis was born at Stoke Damerel, Devon, on 8 December 1852, and joined the Navy as a Boy 2nd Class and carpenter’s apprentice in H.M.S. Impregnable on 6 August 1869. He was advanced to Carpenter’s Crew in December 1870; Caulker’s Mate, May 1877; Acting Caulker, April 1878; and Caulker, November 1880. He served in a wide variety of ships, received his L.S. & G.C. medal on 12 January 1881, and was shore pensioned on 10 December 1890.
