Approximately 78 medals to the Royal Marines with this clasp combination (29 to Royal Marine Artillery, and 49 to Royal Marine Light Infantry).
Samuel Carter was born in Finsbury, London, in November 1859, and enlisted in the Royal Marines on 12 September 1877. Posted to H.M.S. Alexandra on 15 January 1881, he served with the Royal Marine Light Infantry during the operations in Egypt and the Sudan, prior to being invalided out of the service on 23 December 1887, after 10 years and 41 days’ service.
