James I (1603-1625), Rose Ryal, mm. trefoil, King enthroned holding sceptre and orb, plain back to throne, portcullis below, rev. square topped shield over cross fleury, mark of value above, all within border of lis, lions and roses, 12.56g/7h (SCBI Schneider 78, same dies; N 2108; S 2633). Obverse slightly double-struck, nearly extremely fine, the variety with plain back to throne very rare (£5,000-6,000)
