D.C.M. London Gazette 1 January 1918; citation London Gazette 17 April 1918:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst acting N.C.O. in charge of H.Q. Communication Lines. He invariably carried out his duties most efficiently and showed great courage and coolness under trying conditions.’
Awarded for ‘Niewport 1917-18’ The 158 Brigade served in the 2nd Canadian Division during the 3rd battle of Ypres and capture of Paschendaele in November 1917. Sold with further research including extracts from Brigade War Diary.
