William Johnson, from Peckham, London, attested for the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 23 April 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
Fred Isted was born in Petworth, Sussex, and attested for the East Surrey Regiment. He served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and died of wounds on 31 October 1918. He is buried in Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery, Manacourt, France.
