Fred Haddock attested for the Royal Fusiliers, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front, being Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 8 July 1919). He subsequently served with the Labour Corps, before transferring once more to the Yorkshire Regiment. Sold with a portrait photograph of the recipient with his wife, housed in a glazed oval display frame.

William Carter attested for the Royal Irish Fusiliers, and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War in the Middle East. He died in Persia on 2 December 1919, and is buried in the Tehran War Cemetery, Iran,

John Thompson Longstaff was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and lived in Gretna, Dumfriesshire. He attested for the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and served with the 7th/8th Battalions during the Great War on the Western Front. He died of wounds on 2 March 1917, and is buried in St. Hilaire Cemetery, Frevent, France.

Michael George Manktelow, of Pimlico, London, attested for the Rifle Brigade in Whitehall, London, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 3 May 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
