Levi Underwood attested for the Middlesex Regiment at Woking, Surrey, before transferring to the Lancashire Fusiliers. He served with the 10th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 1 December 1917, aged 31. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
