Only 130 awards of the 2nd Class Order of Merit were made between 1837 and 1912. Almost certainly an Indian Mutiny award but no recipient of this name has yet been traced for the second class. The records for this period, however, are far from complete. There are two recipients admitted to the third class with similar names, both awarded for Delhi: Private Khoda Bux, 5th Troop 1st Brigade Bengal Horse Artillery (GO 34/1858) and Private Khodur Bux, Gun Lascar Establishment, attached No. 4 Company 6th Battalion Bengal Artillery.
