J/23598 Signalman Charles Harry Whent, Royal Navy, died 21.12.1916, aged 19 years, when his ship, the destroyer H.M.S. Negro, was in collision with the destroyer H.M.S. Hoste in the North Sea. Both ships were sunk. His name is listed on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Southsea.
