Richard III (1483-1485), Groat, London, type 1, mm. halved sun and rose (no.1) on obv., halved sun and rose (no.2) on rev., nothing below bust, barred a in civitas, 2.91g/9h (Stewartby p.434, I/III; Winstanley –; N 1679; S 2156/2157). Small flan split at 3 o’clock and a little off-centre, otherwise very fine and a very rare combination of marks £1,500-£1,800
