Reginald Alfred Edgar Castle was born on 30 December 1863, and joined the Indian service on 1 June 1884. He subsequently went into the Burma Police in which he served just over 30 years. Appointed an Assistant District Superintendent, 2nd Class, Burma Police, on 10 May 1886, he was posted to Alon, and then to Minbu in August 1886, to Meiktila in February 1887, and to Shanmange in November 1887. Whilst stationed at the latter place he was appointed an Assistant District Superintendent of Police, 1st Class, in January 1888. Castle served in various expeditions in Burma for which he received the medal with two clasps. He continued to serve in Burma, rising steadily in rank, until transferring to the Central Provinces from March 1900, and in Bombay from April 1901, returning once more to Burma in September 1902. By 1907 he had become a District Superintendent of Police, 2nd Grade, and remained as such until his retirement on 31 October 1914. His name remained in the India Office List until 1927 but his death is not recorded.
